Bio gardens, where agricultural products can be freely harvested.

Bio garden

In the bio gardens, traditional aromatic herbs are produced – rosemary, savory, bay leaves, mint or lemon balm – which give the typical smells to Madeiran cuisine.

Bio eggs are also collected, and lettuce, leeks, cabbages, onions, tomatoes, and others are planted. In the orchards, lemon, orange, medlar, and hawthorn trees, among others, flourish.

TRADITIONAL AGRICULTURE REQUIRES A LOT OF LABOR, INDUSTRIAL AGRICULTURE REQUIRES A LOT OF ENERGY AND THE SYSTEMS DESIGNED BY PERMACULTURE REQUIRE A LOT OF INFORMATION AND DESIGN. IN NATURE, ANIMALS SURVIVE AND THRIVE BY CONSTANTLY OBSERVING (USING DIFFERENT SENSES) AND INTERACTING WITH THEIR ENVIRONMENT. – DAVID HOLMGREN
