Since its inception, Casas da Levada adopted permaculture throughout its design and space design. The word permaculture originated the phrase "permanent agriculture", having evolved due to its greater scope for a "sustainable permanent culture." According to Bill Mollison, considered the father of permaculture with David Holmgren, this is a design system for creating sustainable and productive human environments in balance and harmony with nature. With the development of our project, permaculture has become both more comprehensive and cross, reflecting on three pillars: Earth Care (environmental sustainability), Caring for People (social sustainability) and Sharing Fair (economic sustainability). |
